Party decor

We had today off for the Easter holiday so I've been busy working on projects for G's Sesame Street themed 2nd birthday party!  Today, I made his little picture frame that will hang above the food table or maybe the gift table...one of the tables...but anywho, I am so excited for this project because I think it turned out pretty amazing....
So I bought a picture frame from TJ Maxx on clearance for $3. I bought some red spray paint from Hobby Lobby for $5 which I will surely use again and I went to spraying. I bought a piece of polka dot scrapbook paper for .50 and used that as my background and I found a cute blue foam 3-D letter G and voila. I did not put the glass back in the frame due to the G being 3-D but I think it turned out outstanding and I am so excited to put this on the wall as some extra decor for G's big day! And it willl make a great piece to use again in his bedroom after the party:) WIN! WIN!

Here are the pics...

Welcome Sign-Sesame Street Birthday

So today I made the welcome sign that will hang on the door for G's 2nd birthday....I got a wood letter G and number 2 and painted them blue and green( I got them at Hobby Lobby for 1/2 off, so I paid $1.50 for each. The paint I already had.

Then, I took a couple of pieces of cardboard (just the flaps from a box) and covered them in some Sesame Street wrapping paper I picked up from the dollar store. I took my cricut machine and cut out the letters for the signs to say: "Brought to you by the letter" & "and the number". Then I just took some yellow polka dot ribbon and used the glue gun to attach to the top of each piece so I can hang them on the door or entryway as a welcome sign for his party!

Everyday that passes I am more and more excited for G's birthday! He's finally at this age where he can really enjoy all the excitement and decorations!

Happy Monday!

Sesame Street Treat bags....

So I worked on all of the goody bags for G's Sesame Street birthday yesterday....

I started off with a red lunch bag (I got them for a pack of 40 at Target for about $3.
Then I took my cricut machine and with the Elmo's birthday party cartidge I cut out the eyes, nose and mouth....

Then I just took a glue stick and glued them to the bag.
Voila!

Then it was time for putting all the goodies in the bag...
Each goody bag includes:

bubbles (decorated courtesy of my sister Trish, the artist of the family)
silly straw
car eraser
crayons
sesame street learning book
rubber ducky

And the final touch was putting everyone's individual labels on their bags...

So that's it! 25 goody bags all ready to go!

I am sooo excited and I can't wait for G's birthday day!!!!

Cheers,

Rachel

Spring Wreath Tutorial

So i see all these beautiful spring wreaths all over pinterest and I decided I wanted to make one...
I looked everywhere and haven't been around a craft store to get a foam wreath so I just got a pool noodle from the dollar store and duct taped it together...

Then, I used some pretty blue yarn I got at Walmart (I think it was like $3) for this giant thing...and I spent about two hours wrapping this thing...it took a lot longer than I thought lol but it was worth it. I just did it while watching TV with the hubs!

Getting there....

Okay, so then I took these cute little foam Easter eggs I got from the dollar store and some cute bright buttons I got from Walmart and made these adorable little flowers out of them....

And so here is the finished product...well i am still trying to decide if I want to add anything else to it...i think it might be a little too plain....we'll see....

but for now, here it is:

Happy Spring!

Much needed mommy and G time!

So Thursday B was out of town with the girls for some allergy tests. I was at work and that morning Grason had woken up a little cranky, which is not normal for him...this kid is the happiest kid when he wakes up. So I knew something was up. I took his temp and he was fine so off to school we went.
About 2:30pm his daycare called and said he had a fever of 102.5. I picked him up and gave him motrin. Two hours later...fine. He never had a fever again. But, he can't go to daycare until he has been fever free for 24 hours....so I think it was just God's way of telling me that I needed a break to spend some much needed time with my precious boy!

We slept in this morning until 8am!:) (usually up by 6:30am). Then we had some breakfast together....G had his favorite...cinnamon french toast sticks and MIIIILLLLKK! (that's how he says it)
Mommy had wheat toast with butter and strawberry jam. Then we got dressed together while watching our favorite Nick shows and brushed our teeth (g's fav thing to do).

We went to see Daddy at work so I could pick up the stroller that was in the back of his truck...then we headed off to Once Upon a Child to get rid of some stuff...our course they barely took anything and offered next to nothing for what they would accept...sometimes I wonder why I even go there. Yard sale time I guess.

It was time for lunch so G and I met Nana to eat and G had a complete meltdown before I could even sit him down...so I trucked him and I back out to the car, grabbed his DVD player, went back inside and it was a peaceful lunch with G glued to the screen while stuffing french fries dipped in ranch dressing in his mouth.

Then we went to our favorite grocery store ever, Harris Teeter...we grabbed what we needed, G flirted with our cashier and we headed back home for naptime. Seriously, I was ready for a nap by then too...but I go started working on some of Gs projects for his birthday and never took a nap.
But Aunty Trisha came over to help work on some of the projects and it was great to see her...been too long...

All in all, it was a great day and I enjoy these little moments where I get to love on my little man all day long...I work full time and school full time so it's nice sometimes to be able to just put that all aside to have some QT with my sweet baby boy.

I love you Grason!

**I so love this kid...I love the way he sleeps with his butt in the air, his hands underneathe his chest and hi feet crossed over one another, mouth hung open...Ahh, I just love this kid!

Beautiful Spring table arrangement!

I found this on Pinterest and just had to make it. We had the folks over for dinner and I thought it would be a nice touch to make the home more springy:)

Living room revamped!

So we have steadily been working on painting the living room and we are finally finished and so i wanted to show you. I also picked up some great little finds to add to the room too.

These cute little wicker balls worked great to add some nice coral orange color to the room.
Found them at Marshall's for like $6.

Every blog I see has a cute little basket in the living room to put all the little extras that you need to take back to the rooms they belong to. In my house with three kids and a bigger kid (my hubby) I could definitely use this. So I found a great one that went really great with the decor! Found at Marshall's for $9.99

These are my favorite find I think! They are our "guest" pillows. That means they will only be out when we have company and no kiddos to ruin them since they are a beautiful pure white! Also found at Marshall's for $16.99/each.

Our TV area....I still think we need to do something else with the storage ottomans but for now they are good. We will eventually move the TV over the fireplace so we will be able to rearrange the furniture differently to allow more space in the room. I do love our family photos of the kids and B and I on either side of the TV though!

And this is the back wall beside the kitchen and has my cute little everything basket in the corner!
So there you have it...all our hard work has made a beautiful new space and we just love it...

Next project:
New landscaping to the front yard to get ready for spring!

Cheers,

Rachel
